Teachers’ roles in mental health problem identification

A Windsor psychiatrist, quoted in a recent Windsor Star article is suggesting that teachers need to be better able to identify mental health issues in their students.  Certainly, teachers are among the first to notice problems, but who is responsible for educating them to recognize important signs and symptoms, and then where and how to refer?  School psychologists have a definite role here!
