Maternal depression impacts children’s brain development

A new study from Montreal, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and reported in Medscape Today looked at 10  year old children of depressed mothers.  The results suggest that the impact of maternal depression is seen at different stages of brain development in their offspring.  The author urges clinicians to look at the family unit rather than individual clients.
