What do we really know about anorexia?

An article in the New York Times discusses the pros and cons of treatment options for anorexic teens who are admitted to hospitals for care.  The article raises a number of interesting points, but from a psychologist’s perspective, I am curious that there is no mention of the need to address the root cause of the anorexic behaviour and work towards cognitive restructuring to prevent relapses.  Your thoughts?
