ADD – is it a neurological disorder or an environmental consequence?

A recent article in the NYTimes provides some very interesting historical background on the diagnosis of ADD and the effects of medication.  Is ADD neurologically induced, or is it environmentally generated?  Some very interesting perspectives are presented.  Seeing the present through the eyes of history makes us realize how far we’ve moved in our thinking – or not!
