The challenge of accurate assessment of “twice-exceptional” children

An article in Education Week provides some very interesting insights into the problems and pitfalls of assessment of students who may be both dyslexic and gifted, for example.  Timing is critical, and neither cognitive assessment nor RTI seem to provide a good window into the challenges the student is facing.  It really seems to fall to a more holistic approach involving knowing the child’s strengths and helping them to use them to their advantage.
