Profanity in teen literature

It appears that the foul-mouthed heroes/heroines in teen literature are “the ones who have it all” and are likely to be emulated by their audience, according to a study published in Mass Communication and Society and reported in EurekAlert.  The author is concerned about the social learning value for teens, whose other media sources are rated/censored for profanity while teen novels go un-rated. Interesting point.
