Early depression treatment in teens forestalls later drug abuse problems

A new study from Duke University suggests that teens whose major depression is successfully treated early recover better and avoid later drug abuse problems, which seem to occur for those not treated early.  Alcohol use,  however, is not thwarted by early depression treatment, and the two seem to be interlinked, suggesting education is key to avoiding alcohol abuse.
