Effects of parental discord extend from early childhood into teen years

Young children whose parents are involved in marital discord continue to experience effects of that discord well into their teens, although the manifestations of it change over time, suggests a new study published in the journal Child Development and reported in EurekAlert.  Insecurity resulting from parental discord predicts adjustment problems such as anxiety and depression in teen years.  Another good reason for a thorough family history when we assess kids with emotional problems.
