Are we preparing our students for post-secondary life?

An article in the most recent MacLeans magazine paints a disturbing picture of how students are coping – or not – with life and pressures in universities across Canada, and in the US.  What could we be doing better in elementary and secondary school to better prepare students for life on their own?  Is this a recent phenomenon, or has it always been there?  What do you think?
