Disability and school absenteeism

An article in the Chicago Tribune, reported on APA’s  PsychPORT , reports information gleaned by the newspaper when reviewing absenteeism in the Chicago area schools and the the proportion of regular as opposed to special needs students involved.  Clearly the inordinate amount of time missed, intentionally or school-directed, by already challenged students is a serious problem.  Would the data be similar if your district was reviewed?
