Autism identification varies with age specific symptoms

New research from the University of Wisconsin , published in the April issue of the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, found that the age at which autism is diagnosed is dependent on the symptoms presenting at various ages.  The authors suggest that early screening would not be helpful in picking up all those with autism, but rather that awareness of the differences in behaviours seen at various developmental stages are key to appropriate identification and intervention.
