DSM 5 found inadequate by NIMH

An article in Disability Scoop suggests that the National Institute of Mental Health feel that the new DSM5, due to be released at the American Psychiatric Association’s Convention next week, needs to redirect its research focus away from the symptom-based diagnostic criteria of the DSM toward more scientifically verifiable standards.  If this happens, it will mean a significant shift in how we think about diagnostic criteria.
