Another bullying problem – siblings

A recent study from the University of New Hampshire, reported in Daily Rx, looked at the impact of a not-so obvious form of bullying – sibling bullying.  The authors found this type of victimization, often just thought of as sibling rivalry and a normal part of family life, to be more devastating in many ways than bulling by peers.  It is an area t which we need to be more attuned, as well.

Indeed! My undergrad thesis was based on sibling relationships! And results showed that sibling rivalry is negatively related to the coping behavior of individuals and their friendship qualities. Verily, looking at the impact of sibling relationship on behavior later in life, has influenced the current shift from parent-child to sibling related studies.
