How tests can make us smarter!

An article in the New York Times  written by Henry L Roediger III, a very distinguished  scientist whose career  in human learning and memory began around 1970 shortly after the coining of that new term cognitive psychology.  The former APS president describes an interesting study which demonstrated that, rather than being  time-consuming stressors in education, tests can actually, if approached well, aid the learning and memory process.  Interesting perspective on how we view and use the much maligned tests in schools!

    Perhaps there should be some mention of the distinguished career in cognitive scientist/memory research of the author of this NY Times piece – Roddy Roediger – to entice reading of this and other recent work.
