An article in the December 2014 APA Monitor discusses changes made recently to the standards for educational and psychological testing. The last standards were developed in 1999, and new technologies and a better understanding of the diversity of individuals with whom we work have changed how we approach testing. Do we need to look at similar standards in Canada?

The Standards are not APA’s but are the result of collaboration of 3 organizations, AERA, APA, and NCME. And to buy a copy, you need to contact AERA – though it’s probably available on Amazon.
When AERA last met in Montreal, there was some discussion of seeking collaboration with other organizations actively involved with the development and use of testing techniques. But this was mainly considering a scope of practice search [counselling, human resources, etc.] rather than an international or cross cultural search [Canada?] It’s a bit ironic that a meeting in Montreal didn’t want to consider collaboration with Canadian organizations with similar mandates.
It might be worthwhile to consult with some CPA folk about possible Canadian involvement i future updates.
