High quality pre-school programs offer multifaceted benefits

Long-term research from Duke University, reported in The Washington Post, looked at the outcomes of two quality  programs offered to a large cohort of pre-schoolers when they entered school, and then again at grade 3.  Although there has been a lot of discussion about the long-term gains resulting from the Head Start program, these results speak very strongly to the benefits of these programs, not only for the students involved but also for their classmates.  Do we have consistent access to such programs for at-risk pre-schoolers in Canada?
