How to improve the performance of kids with ADHD

A new study from the University of Buffalo, reported in EurekAlert, has demonstrated that kids with ADHD are more motivated to perform well on cognitive tasks if positive reinforcement is provided.  The same was not true of normally developing kids, who didn’t seem to need the extra encouragement to do well.  The authors determined that the differences were not due to ability levels in either group, but to the need of ADHD kids for external reinforcement to persist.  Important information for teachers!
