ADHD symptoms may mask ASD diagnosis

New research published in Pediatrics, reported in disabilityscoop, suggests that a diagnosis of ADHD may delay the later diagnosis of ASD in many children.  The two conditions certainly share symptoms, and it seems that ADHD is more quickly diagnosed.  Is it possible that ADHD is a co-morbid condition in many ASD cases but masks the deeper problem?
