Self-esteem well established by age 5

New research from the University of Washington, reported in PsychCentral, suggests that self-esteem develops through the pre-school years and is established by age 5, and remains relatively stable over the lifespan.  The study method is very interesting, and draws into question what experiences the preschooler has that form that self-esteem.  And if the results are credible, do we need to spend so much time in school worrying about self-esteem programs?
