Are we looking at ADHD incorrectly?

As the diagnoses of ADHD continue to mount, along with medical treatments, an editorial in the Journal of the American Medical Association Pediatrics, reported in NPR, suggests that we should not be looking simply at attention “deficit”, but rather a spectrum of attentional capacity, and attempting to maximize each individual’s ability to self-monitor and self-regulate.  The author argues that the diagnosis of ADHD is a disservice to many children.  This approach seems to make a lot of sense!
