The school’s responsibility in addressing mental health issues

Education Week has published an interesting article on the shared responsibility of schools and society in identifying and preventing mental health issues in children and youth.  The statistics are American, but they likely reflect Canadian numbers too.

    This would be a good time for Canadian School Psychologists to revisit the articles special issue (2013) of the Can. J. of School Psychology. These are profoundly important advocacy papers on school-based mental health that offer direction and purpose. School psychologists as much as any other profession in education need to get behind these initiatives.
